Child rights group expresses concern over Filipino mothers working in Lebanon
Save the Children Philippines (SCP) has expressed concern over the welfare of the overseas Filipino workers, especially mothers, after the twin explosions in Beirut, Lebanon on Wednesday.

“We are deeply concerned on the welfare of our OFWs, especially the mothers who sacrificed being away from their children so they can send them to school, and provide for their basic needs,” SPC Chief Executive Officer Atty. Alberto Muyot said in a statement Thursday.
The number of Filipino fatalities from the Beirut twin explosions has increased to four, while the number of injured reached 31, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported on Friday.
SPC said its child protection and rapid response teams are on standby to support the government's efforts to attend the needs of the children who may be hurt, shocked, and separated from their parents.
“Our hearts go out to the Lebanese people, as well as to our OFWs and their families who are severely affected by the disaster which happened at the most trying times of a pandemic,” Muyot said.
The deadly twin blasts in the Beirut port left more than 130 people dead and at least 5,000 injured.
