BUTUAN CITY - A total of 10,274 locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and 2,547 returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs) have arrived in Caraga after being stranded for several months in Manila and other parts of Luzon and Visayas due to the implemented lockdowns caused by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
These LSIs and ROFs have already returned to their respective homes, while others are still under strict home quarantine or are in other health facilities in the five provinces and six cities in Northeastern Mindanao or Caraga region.
With this development, the regional office of Department of Health-Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) urged Caraganons to continue follow “without let up” all health protocols strictly imposed by the agency, local government units (LGUs) and other concerned line agencies of the government.
DOH 13 Regional Director Dr. Jose R. Llacuna, Jr. said the agency, along with the LGUs continue to intensify the contact tracing activities with teams already organized in provinces and cities in Caraga region.
Six contact tracing teams are actively moving in this region’s premier and capital city of Butuan, 57 teams in Agusan del Norte, 22 in Agusan del Sur, seven in the Province of Dinagat Islands (PDI), 22 in Surigao del Norte and 20 in Surigao del Sur.
Llacuna said a total of 117 individuals were already traced and assessed in Butuan City, 360 in Agusan del Norte, 282 in Agusan del Sur, 59 in Surigao del Norte, and 205 in Surigao del Sur.
As of Thursday, Caraga region had a total of 336 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 193 recoveries, 142 active cases, and one death.
PDI remained free of COVID-19, as of the latest released data by the DOH-CHD Caraga.
Meanwhile, Butuan City Mayor Ronnie Vicente C. Lagnada urged Butuanons to strictly abide by the health protocols issued by the inter-agency task force against COVID-19.
At least 36 barangays in Butuan City are under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) while the other barangays are under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).
