DPWH Region 2 completes two major flood control projects along Sta. Fe River
CAGAYAN – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 2 has completed two flood control projects worth P38.5 million along the Sta. Fe River in time for the rainy season.

Wilzon Valdez, DPWH Regional Information officer said the DPWH–Nueva Vizcaya 2nd District Engineering Office has completed the construction of the Sta. Fe River Flood Control Structures along Villaflores Section – Sta. Fe which is now at 88.95 percent, and the Calitlitan Section, Calitlitan, Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya with 85.36 percent completion.
According to District Engineer Glenn C. Miguel, the two flood control projects have a total length of 750.00 linear meters. Construction for the projects started on February 16, 2020 and the revised target completion dates will be on September 7, 2020 for the Clitlitan Section and August 4, 2020 for the Villaflores Section.
The completion of these flood control structures will prevent water influx to paved roads along Daang Maharlika Highway and to residential areas, Miguel told the Manila Bulletin.
Valdez said the water level in these areas rises from five to eight feet during rainy season which poses a threat to low-lying barangays.
He added that the projects will mitigate the impact of flooding and scouring on vast agricultural lands.
