Total confirmed coronavirus cases in the country reached the 119,000-mark after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 3,561 new cases Thursday.
The DOH said that the nationwide caseload is now 119,460, of which 50,473 are active cases or patients still undergoing treatment.
Another 28 individuals died of COVID-19, bringing the death toll to 2,150. Meanwhile, the DOH said that 569 new recoveries were recorded, raising the total to 66,837.
Of the new infections, 2,041 came from Metro Manila, while 222 were from Laguna, 221 from Cebu, 100 from Cavite, and 81 from Rizal.
These areas were placed under modified extreme community quarantine by President Duterte recently.
The DOH said that 81 duplicates were removed from the total case count.
“Of these, two recovered cases have been removed. Moreover, one case that was previously reported to have died has been validated to have recovered and was included in the count of the new recoveries,” it said.
The country has a total of 99 licensed laboratories for COVID-19 and the total number of samples tested is now at 1,643,539. The average daily testing capacity is at 28,000.
