Biñan launches COVID-19 contact tracing mobile app

BIÑAN CITY, Laguna - The city government has introduced a new mobile app to boost contact-tracing efforts and help curb the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

On Wednesday (Aug. 5),  residents, business owners, and those working in Biñan were encouraged to download and register in an app called BinD360.

The app works by assigning a personal QR code to every registrant, which can be scanned by other BinD360 users they interact with. The app can also be used to scan QR codes of business establishments they visit. In this regard, the Establishment QR code should be displayed at the entrance of the participating establishment.

To assist users, there is a BinD360 Mobile App Facebook page, "created to be an online forum discussions and other related topics on the developed contact tracing app of the City of Biñan. This Forum will create opportunities and troubleshooting of the current versions of the BinD360 App.

The app is currently available for Android and Huawei users, and soon for Apple devices.

As of Aug. 5, the city has recorded 761 confirmed cases, with 402 recoveries and 23 deaths. As per Laguna Provincial Health Office's Aug. 4 count, Biñan has the second-highest number of COVID-19 cases in the province, next to Santa Rosa City.
