Western Visayas records 74 new COVID-19 infections

ILOILO CITY (PNA) – The total number of laboratory-confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in Western Visayas stood at 1,621 after 74 new infections recorded on Tuesday, based on the report of the Department of Health - Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) 6 (Western Visayas).

“Our active cases, we have already 842, which is around 47 percent of the total COVID-19 cases here in Western Visayas,” Dr. Renilyn Reyes, DOH-CHD-6 spokesperson, said in a virtual presser.

The 74 new cases consisted of 30 confirmed cases from Iloilo province, 14 from Iloilo City, 13 from Bacolod City, 11 from Negros Occidental, three from Capiz, two from Guimaras, and one from Aklan.

Some 56 of them were returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs), four were locally stranded individuals (LSIs), two were authorized persons outside residence (APORs), and 12 were local cases.

Nine of the local cases were from Iloilo City and one each in Bago City, Negros Occidental; Roxas City, Capiz; and Passi City, Iloilo.

The new confirmed cases were from the 1,524 total laboratory results from the four laboratory centers in the region.

Of the 842 active cases, 625 were ROFs, LSIs, and APORs, comprising 74 percent of the total active cases, while the other 217 cases are from Bacolod City (107), Iloilo City (63), Iloilo province and Negros Occidental (22 each), Capiz (2), and Guimaras (1).

Western Visayas also recorded 20 recoveries, increasing the number of recovered patients to 758. The death toll remained at 21.
