Taxpayers in Cebu told to pay taxes in nearest AABs

Cebu City –  The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has instructed taxpayers here to file returns and pay the corresponding taxes at the nearest branch of Authorized Agent Banks (AABs) during the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

The Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 78-2020 signed by BIR Commissioner Caesar Dulay also allowed taxpayers to do the same chores with the revenue collection officers near their residence or place of business.

The circular stressed that the policy ends when the MECQ is lifted.

When the lockdown is replaced with general community quarantine (GCQ) taxpayers will be required to file returns at the revenue district office where they are registered and remit taxes with AABs located  within the district.

However, Dulay encouraged taxpayers to use the electronic system in filing and paying taxes by accessing the BIR website at www.bir.gov.ph.

Users are instructed to click the "ePay" icon to reach the ePayment icons of various financial entities like the Land Bank of the Philippines, Union Band and the Land Bank of the Philippines using their credit and debit cards.

Taxpayers can also avail of the mobile payment facilities of GCash and PayMaya.
