After coming under fire, a barangay in Quezon City will now give two quarantine passes per household and not to mothers only.

In a statement posted on Facebook, Barangay Matandang Balara head Allan Franza said "based on the directive of Mayor Joy Belmonte that two quarantine passes will be given to each family, are now including fathers, members of LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community, and solo parents" in the list of those who can acquire the said pass.
This came after the barangay drew backlash from social media users after it issued an order that only mothers were qualified to get quarantine passes, a move they described as "discriminatory."
"Ang bawat pamilya ay muling bibigyan ng QPass na syang gagamitin para lumabas ng bahay upang bumili ng pagkain at gamot. Mga ilaw ng tahanan (nanay) lamang ang bibigyan ng QPass ," the barangay said in its previous order.
Nevertheless, they would ensure that those who would be given quarantine passes are qualified.
"Ang mga bagong ipamamahaging Quarantine Pass ay may kaukulang QR Code at may kalakip na litrato upang matiyak ang wastong paggamit nito ," Franza said.
The new quarantine pass will be distributed starting August 5.
