CAVITE - The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases suspended public transportation in the province in accordance with the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) guidelines, Governor Jonvic Remulla said on Wednesday (August 5).

Remulla earlier announced that he was allowing public transportation to assist Cavite's 200,000 factory workers, with the manufacturing sector's continuous operation under MECQ.
"Ikinalulungkot ko po sabihin na ang IATF ay mabigat na binalaan ang ating provincial commander ng PNP na mahigpit patuparin ang ‘no public transportation policy.’ (It's with deep regret that I inform you that IATF warned our PNP Provincial Commander about strictly implementing the 'no public transportation policy')," Remulla wrote on his Facebook page.
"This is a very unwise decision but I will respect it. Our manufacturing industry will be severely affected," he rued.
Remulla lamented that he's only doing his best for his constituents but "people in charge see things differently."
Cavite has suffered a surge in coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases over the past two months, linked to residents going to the National Capital Region (NCR) for work and other engagements.
