'Grabe 2020': Huge Beirut blast sends netizens to the edge

Following a series of unfortunate events including the blast in Beirut that killed at least 40 people and wounded 4,000 others on Wednesday had netizens tweeting "Grabe 2020" out of frustration.

"Taal Volcano Eruption. Kobe Bryant and her daughter Helicopter Crash. Australia Bush Fire. Coronavirus Disease 2019. NAIA Airplane Crash. Bomb explosion in Lebanon. Grabe 2020 ah, worst year ever," tweeted @immhary_.

@naughtymaricris also weighed in: "January - U.S. vs. Iran, volcanic eruption, Kobe's death, bushfires. March to present: COVID-19 Pandemic. May: Typhoons, frequent earthquakes, ABS-CBN shutdown. June: George Floyd's death and protests. August: Lebanon massive explosion."

@ughhbby said that it is difficult to remain optimistic especially since bad news just keeps on rolling in.

"GRABE, 2020. Every month of this year we prayed that we'll recover, we never hope because the year hasn't ended yet. But each day as we wake up, there's fear that we'll see another bad headline. BECAUSE WE'VE BEEN RECEIVING BAD NEWS EVERY MONTH," she said.

Other netizens prayed for healing.
@mga_linya wrote, "Grabe 2020, you’re far beyond I expect. Lord please heal our land."

@jorielf1 added, "Please end now 2020. Grabe 2020. 2020. I am looking forward to 2021 sana hindi worst year (hope it won't be the worst year). We are the VIRUS in this world. Punished by God. Humanity is lost. The world will heal until we repent our sin. Go back to Him. Everything will be alright."

Meanwhile, @Krishiandra said that prayer is the answer for all of the world's problems. "Maybe it's time to be on our knees more than ever. Grabe 2020," she said.

@hazelssiazon also prayed, "Oh Lord! Prayer not just for Lebanon but for everyone especially this time of crisis. Grabe 2020."

On the other hand, @ronald4CHRIST does not believe that the worst has come and gone as he tweeted: "Grabe 2020. It's just the beginning. Expect more famine, plagues, earthquakes, wars, etc. going to occur. We are on the last days. Repent and put your faith in Jesus."

Not everybody thinks the same way, as some netizens still persist in hoping that things will eventually get better, such as @dxxnclarite who said: "Sending all my thoughts and prayers to the people of Lebanon, COVID-19 victims and to those people who have struggles in life. Grabe, 2020 has been cruel to us but I know someday, all things will end and we will get our life back the way it used to be. Laban lang (Just keep fighting!)"
