Feast of the Transfiguration

Roman Catholics commemorate on Thursday, August 6, the feast of the Transfiguration of Christ – the powerful demonstration of His divine nature and manifestation of His glory that proved that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of the living God.

Holy masses will be held in Cavinti, Laguna, and in Sto. Domingo, Angeles City, Pampanga as well as at the Transfiguration of Christ Parish on 18th Avenue, Murphy, Cubao, Quezon City.

The Transfiguration, a story told in the New Testament, took place on Mount Tabor in Galilee. It marked the culmination of Jesus’ public life, as His baptism marked its beginning, and His Ascension, its end.

Witnessed by three of Jesus’ apostles, Saints Peter, James, and John, “Jesus suddenly became radiant and was seen speaking with Moses, the symbol of the law, and Elijah, the symbol of the prophets. A bright cloud appeared overhead and a voice was heard, ‘This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased. Listen to Him,” paralleling a similar event during His baptism.
