Almost 200 lampposts now light up the stretch of España Boulevard in Manila.

In a Facebook post, the Manila Public Information Office (MPIO) said a total of 172 lamp posts were installed from the Morayta area up to Welcome Rotonda, spanning around 1.9 kilometers.
Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso led the lighting of the lamp posts Monday evening (Aug. 3).
In a statement on Tuesday, he said the newly-installed lamp posts will "ease the concern of the general public in encountering suspected criminals at night."
Students and other people had feared walking around the area, where snatching and hold-up incidents frequently took place due to the lack of proper lighting.
