Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong’’ Go has thrown his support for this morning’s Senate Committee of the Whole’s in-depth inquiry into the nation’s health status.

The committee’s in-person and video public hearing will focus on alleged widespread corruption at the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) involving hundreds of millions of pesos and the apparent failure of the Department of Health (DOH) to contain the spread of the deadly coronavirus disease (COVID-19) throughout the country.
“We must ensure that this government continues to be responsive with its measures that squarely address the pandemic,” he said, adding that the legislative branch could help government agencies improve measures to effectively address the ongoing crisis.
Go also urged government agencies to improve its communication efforts and disseminate the right information to the public to strengthen the country’s collective efforts to overcome the pandemic.
“This pandemic needs a whole-of-nation approach. It is important that we involve and consult our experts from all fields and open the doors to those who want to help and share their expertise,” Go said.
Go previously said that he would continue to engage with various sectors and assure them that their voices will be heard by the government.
Also Included in the discussion today at the Senate Committee of the Whole is Senate Resolution 483 which was introduced Monday night by Senator Richard J. Gordon who wanted the inquiry should emphasize on the ‘’status, capability and plan to combat the COV1D-19 pandemic.’’
