CHR lauds single mothers, urges support, encouragement

The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) lauded all single mothers working hard to provide a bright future for their children in observance of Single Working Women's Day, August 4.

The CHR said on Twitter that single mothers face an even bigger burden now because of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) health pandemic.

"Isang malaking hamon para sa kahit kaninong magulang ang pagtataguyod ng kanilang anak nang mag-isa. Subalit ibang klaseng hirap ang kanilang binabaka ngayong panahon na may krisis pangkalusugan tayong kinakaharap (Raising a child on their own is a big challenge for any parent. But they are facing a different kind of hardship now that we are facing a health crisis)," the Commission said.

The CHR added single mothers deserve all the love, support and encouragement, enjoining people to show them kindness and respect.

"Kung mayroon kayong kakilalang single moms, huwag mag-atubiling magpaabot ng tulong at encouraging messages sa kanila upang kahit papaano’y mapagaan natin ang araw-araw na pagsusuong nila ng responsilidad ng isang matatag na magulang, (If you know any single moms, feel free to send help and encouraging messages to them so that we can somehow lift their spirits as they go about their daily responsibility of being a strong parent)," the CHR said.
