Vice President Leni Robredo said Monday that the free shuttle service for health workers and other frontliners in Metro Manila will resume once again after it reverted to modified enhanced community quarantine Tuesday.
Robredo’s office will begin the shuttle service in eight routes on the first day of the implementation of the MECQ in Metro Manila.
In a Facebook post, Robredo said the routes of the bus rides will cover hospitals in Metro Manila with one trip each in the morning and afternoon.
“This initiative will make pagbabayanihan (helping each other) possible again,” the lady official said.
The free bus rides are a project of Robredo’s office and Angat Buhay partners UBE Express, Diamond Motor Corp., Philippines Autogroup, and Seaoil.
Passengers are required to present their hospital ID to be able to ride the shuttle. Health protocols such as temperature checks and physical distancing will be observed.
The routes of the shuttle service are Starmall Alabang to PNB Blumentritt corner Leonor Rivera St. in Manila, Heritage Hotel EDSA Extension to the Lung Center of the Philippines in Quezon City, SM MOA EDSA to Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center, EDSA Extension/Macapagal Ave. to Monumento, and vice versa;
SM Fairview to Lawton, Manila, Heritage Hotel to Balintawak LRT, SM Masinag to Philippine General Hospital, Manila; SM Masinag to Veterans Memorial Medical Center, Quezon City, and vice versa.
President Duterte on Sunday placed Metro Manila and nearby provinces on MECQ from Aug. 4 to 18 following the recent surge in coronavirus cases.
All mass transportation are suspended under an MECQ which makes it difficult for medical personnel to report for work.
