Caraga cops help restore Ambangan creek in Butuan City

CAMP COL. RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – The command group and personnel of Caraga Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) spearheaded the clean-up of Ambangan Creek in this city as part of its efforts of preserving and protecting the creek.

Along with the officers and personnel of Metro Butuan City Police Office (BCPO), Agusan del Norte Police Provincial Office (PPO) and 13th Regional Mobile Force Battalion (13th RMFBn), the PRO 13 trooped on Saturday morning, August 1, to the Ambangan Creek at Barangay Libertad here for the massive clean-up drive.

By practicing health protocol, more than 100 officers and personnel from PRO13 Headquarters, BCPO, PPO 13th RMFBn took part in the activity.

On the same month last year, similar activity was conducted in the area after the PRO13 adopted the Ambangan creek as “PRO13 creek”.

The police personnel also planted trees and flowers to keep the place clean and green, and minimize soil erosion.

“As the years passed by, several trashes and wastes are trapped in the creek.  Aside from removing unpleasant things from public view, keeping the entire area clean helps reduce human health risk and promotes the well-being of the community,” PRO 13 Regional Director Brig. Gen. Joselito T. Esquival, Jr. said.

“We can totally transform the area if those residing near the creek will also do their share,” stressed the region’s police chief. 

“Let us work together for a common goal, after all our objective is not only for this generation but also to our next generation," Esquivel added.
