Four Filipino crewmembers of the Norwegian-flagged MS Roald Amundsen have tested positive for COVID-19 and are being treated in a hospital in Norway, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Monday.
Quoting a report from the Philippine Embassy in Oslo, the DFA said Musti Vorhus, chief purser of the luxury passenger ship, confirmed the status of the four Filipino crew members.
It added that 123 more Filipino crew onboard the vessel were also tested and are awaiting the results which are expected to be out this week.
It was earlier reported that the four crew members were hospitalized on Friday when the ship arrived at the port of Tromsoe, a city in the northern part of Norway.
The report said Norwegian health authorities are expecting more infections among the crew and passengers of the vessel which has been traveling since July 17 on two separate cruises.
"Philippine Embassy is closely monitoring the situation as it stands ready to extend assistance as needed," the DFA said.
