6 State hospitals to receive P5-M mobile full-body disinfection machines, disinfectants
Six government hospitals in Quezon City will receive mobile full-body disinfection machines and disinfectants worth P5 million from the private sector, Bagong Henerasyon (BH) partylist Rep. Bernadette Herrera said Sunday.
She said the donation was made possible after the Bagong Henerasyon Foundation Inc. (BHFI) secured a cash donation amounting P5.087 million from consumer goods giant Reckitt Benckiser Healthcare Philippines Inc. to buy six disinfection machines.
She said the recipient hospitals are Veterans Memorial Medical Center, Philippine Orthopedic Center, Quezon City General Hospital, Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital, PNP General Hospital, and AFP General Hospital.
Herrera noted that the Rotary International District 3780 is also involved in the donation drive which intends to provide each hospital one HWL MIST Mobile Thermometry, Scanning, and Disinfection Channel with a six-month supply of disinfectants.
“These equipment will help prevent the spread of infectious diseases, especially in the current situation of COVID-19 pandemic,” the RI District 3780 past district governor said.
“This is part of the continuing efforts of BHFI and Rotary District 3780 to help the government in its fight against COVID-19, particularly in Quezon City which has the highest number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country,” she added.
Herrera, who led the donation initiative, along with Rotary Club of Sta. Mesa Quezon City Lt. Gov. Robert Nazal, cited that a memorandum of agreement was signed by BHFI president Francis Roderick Custodio and Reckitt Benckiser Philippines general manager Aleli Melissa Arcilla last July 3.
“We are extremely grateful for the generosity of Reckitt Benckiser Philippines, which is implementing a COVID-19 response program through its Fight for Access Fund initiative to support the Philippine government’s efforts in containing the coronavirus and help the most vulnerable population survive the pandemic,” she said.
According to her, the BHFI and Rotary District 3780, with Rotary Club of Sta. Mesa, Quezon City as the lead club, "will enter into a deed of donation with each hospital beneficiary during the actual turnover of the mobile thermometer disinfection channels."
