Only 9,852 from Angono qualify for cash aid

ANGONO, Rizal – The Angono Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) announced on its Facebook page on July 31 that the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has considered only 9,852 persons to be included in the “waitlisted” Social Amelioration Program (SAP) beneficiaries.

There are more than 14,000 residents here who were not able to receive the P6,500 cash assistance in the first tranche of the SAP.

The DSWD said the “waitlisted beneficiaries” are families who applied under the program during the first wave of distribution but were not included in the list.

The MSWDO in its post said, it is saddened with the outcome of the “rematching” done by the DSWD, since based on the master list submitted by the town’s 10 barangays, the waitlisted individuals number 14,187 but only 9,852 were deemed qualified by the DSWD.

“We expect complaints from those who were disqualified. We are appealing for your understanding since it is the DSWD which has decided who to approve or not,” the MSWDO posted in Filipino on its Facebook page.

The MSWDO added that those who were not included in the  waitlist will be prioritized in future assistance program of the local government.

Residents poured their sentiments on social media.

A netizen said the DSWD should post the names of those who were disqualified and that the half page of the Social Amelioration Card form which they filled-up should be given back to the disqualified applicants.

Another netizen said since the start of the pandemic, no one from the barangay knocked on their door to verify if she is entitled to the SAP or not.

A female netizen posted how painful it was for her to accept that she was not on the list posted in her barangay since she encountered difficulties in submitting the SAP requirements believing that she is qualified.

The MSWDO said SAP beneficiaries who received P6,500 during the first tranche but have not yet received a text message from the DSWD as to how they would get the second tranche, should give details of their SAP form to the MSWDO on August 5, through private messaging.

The Interior and Local Government earlier said the list of qualified ‘waitlisted beneficiaries’ should be displayed prominently at the barangay hall for transparency.
