84 new COVID cases among Pinoys abroad


COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad grew to 9,556 with 84 new confirmed cases Saturday, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.

There were 41 newly recovered patients, bringing the recoveries among overseas Filipinos to 5,572 while five new fatalities were reported, taking the death tally to 671.

A total of 3,313 Filipino patients overseas are undergoing treatment.

According to the Foreign Affairs department, the new confirmed cases were recorded in the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, and Middle East while the new fatalities were reported from the Americas and Middle East and Africa.

"Based in percentages, the total number of those who have recovered from COVID-19 remains at 58 percent of the total confirmed cases. While those who are under treatment and those who passed on due to the disease are now almost 35 percent and seven percent, respectively," DFA said.

Most of the reported cases among Filipinos abroad are in countries in the Middle East and Africa with 6,770 cases and over half of them have recovered. This region also has the most deaths among Filipinos with 395 fatalities.

Europe has 1,111 cases with 509 recoveries and 95 deaths; the Asia and Pacific Region has 913 cases with 646 recoveries and six deaths; while the Americas has 762 cases with 447 recoveries and 175 deaths.
