MTV has released the list of nominees for 2020 Video Music Awards (VMA) and several K-pop acts are in the running in three categories.

The 2020 VMAs will air on Aug. 30 (Aug. 31 in the Philippines) “across MTV's linear and digital platforms from Barclays Center in Brooklyn, as well as from various iconic locations throughout New York City's five boroughs,” according to MTV.

There are two new categories this year amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic: Best Music Video From Home and Best Quarantine Performance.

K-pop superstars BTS got the most nominations among K-pop acts with three. Their song “On,” released last February, is nominated for Best Pop along with Halsey’s "You should be sad,"  Jonas Brothers’ "What a Man Gotta Do," Justin Bieber ft. Quavo’s "Intentions," Lady Gaga with Ariana Grande’s "Rain On Me" and Taylor Swift’s "Lover."

BTS’ “On” also got nominated for Best Choreography courtesy of Son Sung Deuk, Lee Ga Hun and Lee Byung Eun. Other nominees are CNCO & Natti Natasha’s "Honey Boo," DaBaby’s "BOP," Dua Lipa’s "Physical," Lady Gaga with Ariana Grande’s "Rain On Me"  and Normani’s "Motivation."

Nominees in the Best K-pop category are BTS, “On;" EXO, “Obsession;" (G)I-DLE, "Oh My God;" Monsta X, "Someone's Someone;" Red Velvet, "Psycho;" and TXT, "9 and Three Quarters (Run Away)."

Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande have the most nominations this year with nine each followed by The Weeknd and Billie Eilish with six each.
