D&L, Thai partner donating isolation capsules for COVID patients

D&L Industries’ CSR Partner, the Lao Foundation, in partnership with the local business unit of Thailand-based manufacturing conglomerate, SCG International Corporation (Philippines) Inc., is donating innovative virus protection equipment for healthcare frontliners.

Exclusively developed by SCG, the “Patient Isolation Capsule”is designed to protect medical personnel transporting Covid-19 persons who are under investigation or management.

The $5,000 tube specially-built by the Thai manufacturing giant arrived in the country last July 13.

The  “Patient Isolation Capsule” has open-close slots around the patient, making it easy for doctors and nurses to perform necessary emergency medical procedures for Covid-19 patients. 

The “Patient Isolation Capsule”is also equipped with powerful air filters to prevent possible airborne virus transmission from Covid-19 positive patients.

Last July 23, officials of SCG and the Lao Foundation formally turned over the first-ever “Patient Isolation Capsule” to officers of the Ospital ng Muntinlupa as their first beneficiary.

SCG International Corporation Co., Ltd has 21 global business offices covering strategic markets worldwide, serving 2,000 corporate customers in more than 50 countries.

In the Philippines, SCG International Corporation (Philippines) Inc. was established in 2005.  The major business is commodity trading.

The Lao Foundation is the CSR Partner of D&L Industries, one of the country's largest specialty foods ingredients, plastics and oleochemicals firm. It was founded in 2010 with thrusts in education, values formation, and livelihood. 

The D&L group of companies earlier allotted P100 million in financial support to employees and donations to various communities and institutions as part of its efforts to join the nation in fighting COVID-19.

Through the Lao Foundation Inc., the company has given P15,000 financial assistance to 99 families in communities where D&L operations are located.

On top of that, the foundation has approved an initial budget of P5 million to extend various forms of assistance to institutions that are in most need. Personal protective equipment such as masks, goggles, as well as alcohol and other sanitation chemicals have also been donated by the group to various hospitals.
