In a Facebook post, the former Mandaluyong City mayor wrote: “My dad is officially healed of COVID-19 and has been officially discharged from the hospital,” Abalos Jr. wrote.

Benhur said his mother, Corazon, is still confined at the hospital, adding that he has been taking care of her.

“She has already developed COVID antibodies in her system. She might be off the ventilator machine by Friday,” he said.

The Abalos couple tested positive for COVID-19 on July 17.

The couple’s daughter-in-law, Mandaluyong Mayor Carmelita Abalos, also confirmed to Manila Bulletin that her father-in-law has already recovered from COVID-19.

“In fact, he already got home last night (July 29),” while her mother-in-law is now “getting better,” she said in a text message.

Recently, Benhur disclosed that he also contracted the virus, but said that COVID-19 only affected him “minimally.”

“I was infected. I am COVID positive,” he said earlier.
