Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) delivered coronavirus disease (COVID-19) test kits donated by SD BIOSENSOR to the Department of Health (DOH) in a ceremony held at the Department of Foreign Affairs Monday, July 27.
The turnover ceremony was co-organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Philippines and the South Korean government, which also donated 60,000 units of KF94 masks, seven COVID-19 walk-through diagnostic booths, and 1,000 face shields to the Philippine government as part of its humanitarian assistance.
This donation was coordinated as part of KOTRA’s Global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, which aims to support Korean companies in extending help to locals. The turnover ceremony was witnessed by significant agencies and organizations which include the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, the Department of Health (DOH), the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), and Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA).
SD BIOSENSOR is one of South Korea’s leading healthcare companies with advanced and innovative technology. The company is particularly donating 5,000 units of antigen test kits and 5,000 units of antibody test kits, which are certified and approved by the Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The brand of STANDARD Q is Immunochromatography tests for rapid qualitative diagnosis. STANDARD Q COVID-19 Ag Test can detect specific antigens to SARS-CoV-2 present in human nasopharynx within 15-30minutes. This test aids in the early diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection in patient with clinical symptoms with SARS-CoV-2 infection. Other countries such as India, Malaysia, and Brazil are implementing Ag RDT for their national screening algorithm for SARS-CoV-2 infection. Furthermore, the test kits act as a supplement for PCR testing in certain aspects such as cost, testing time, innumerable screening in certain locations such as airports or military camps, and accessibility (e.g. drive through testing).
STANDARD Q COVID-19 IgM/IgG Combo Test can detect specific antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 present in human serum, plasma or whole blood within 10-15minutes.
SD BIOSENSOR is donating test kits to the Philippines as part of its humanitarian assistance to fight the pandemic.
