Senate ready to pass Bayanihan to Recover as One Act --Angara
The Senate is ready to approve the proposed Bayanihan to Recover as One Act on third and final reading in response to President Duterte’s call during his fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA).

Senate finance committee chair Sen. Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara made the commitment to pass the “Bayanihan 2” which gives the President authority to realign government funds to stimulate the economy and to utilize the money to boost the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic right, after the Chief Executive’s annual public address.
“We will pass Bayanihan 2 tomorrow, I believe, then onto bicam (bicameral conference meeting) so that should become law in the next few weeks,” Angara said in a statement.
“We will look at other laws needed which he mentioned,” he added.
Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto said he also approve of the immediate passage of the ‘Bayanihan 2.’
“I agree in investing on agriculture, plant, plant, plant. (I) will support it,” Recto said in a separate statement.
“Will also support Bayanihan 2 with a few changes. He must (also) crack the whip on Cabinet to do better and maybe replace a few,” added the senator.
Senate President Vicente Sotto III earlier said the Senate nearly passed the Bayanihan 2 when they reopened their second regular session on Monday morning but decided to defer it to Tuesday.
“I’m sure the entire Congress is towards helping the country recover and relieve ourselves from the problem of COVID-19,” Sotto said in a virtual press conference.
