The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has ordered regional directors and district officers nationwide to continue the tax information dissemination activities despite the Pandemic.

In issuing Revenue Memorandum Order No. 24-2020, Revenue Commissioner Caesar Dulay said the tax awareness program should be sustained to boost the chances of the agency in hitting its P1.7 trillion collection target for the year.
Â
The order stated that businessmen, professionals and other concerned taxpayers must always be reminded of their financial obligations to state through seminars and dialogue consistent with the health protocol issued by the Inter-agency Task Force for Emerging Infectious Disease.
Â
He said new taxpayer registrants must also be required to attend tax briefing.
Â
Taxpayers should be furnished with information materials and revenue officers should be available for television and radio interviews on tax related matters.
Â
Fiscal authorities have gradually reduced the BIR's collection goal for 2020 from P2.2 trillion fixed at the start of the year to P2.2 trillion and lately to P1.7 trillion as the pandemic surges.
Â
For the first semester, the bureau raised P902 billion which was P170 billion lower compared to the actual collection for the same period last year.
