Health measures strengthened at PRO 13 headquarters

CAMP COL. RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City -  The regional headquarters of Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) based here has enforced additional health measures inside its camp following the spike of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the Caraga region.


The spike of COVID-19 cases was also noted in Butuan City where, out of the new 27 cases reported last week by the Department of Health (DOH), 21 were locally transmitted.

To date, Caraga region has 272 COVID-19 confirmed positive cases. 

With this, more health protocols are being implemented at the PRO 13 regional headquarters in an effort to avert the spread of the deadly virus. 

All visitors, workers and even peddlers are now required to present medical clearance or rapid antibody test (RAT) results upon entry at the regional PRO 13 headquarters.

PRO 13 Regional Public Information Office (RPIO) Chief Maj. Renel E. Serrano said the new health protocol began on Friday.

Regional Health Service (RHS) personnel were also required to check the body temperature of individuals coming inside the camp, while all vehicles need to pass the designated disinfection area.

Meanwhile, PRO 13 Regional Director Brig. Gen. Joselito T. Esquivel, Jr. said the objective was to ensure the safety of all police officers and personnel inside the camp from COVID-19 disease.

He said these additional measures were part of their efforts to sustain the “zero” case of police personnel infected by the COVID-19 in Northeastern Mindanao or Caraga region.

“This is for everybody’s good health and safety at all times,” the region’s top police official said. 

Meanwhile, the same health protocols were being implemented at the regional office of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) here.

DPWH 13 Regional Director Engr. Pol M. Delos Santos said observance of physical distancing, wearing of face masks, use of disinfectants or alcohols in all offices is also in place in an effort to stop the spread of the virus.

“We are implementing all the health protocols not only in this regional office but also down to all provincial and city district engineering offices spread in the five provinces and six cities in Caraga region,” the region’s top DPWH 13 official added.
