Cinemalaya winner 'Belle Douleur' gets 2020 Santorini Film Festival nomination

The 2019 Cinemalaya Audience Choice Awardee “Belle Douleur” is nominated for Best Drama at the Santorini Film Festival 2020.

The Cinemalaya announced the news on its official social media accounts on Sunday.

“Belle Douleur by Joji Alonso is nominated for Best Drama at the Santorini Film Festival 2020! Congratulations, Direk Joji and the team!” the post read.

In a separate post, director Joji Alonso expressed gratitude for the film’s nomination.

“Thank you to the Santorini Film Festival for Belle Douleur’s nomination in the Best Drama category. Wish we could all go!” the director wrote.

“Belle Douleur” follows the story of a woman’s journey of finding happiness as she breaks free from the confines that society puts on women.

It stars Mylene Dizon, Kit Thompson, Marlon Rivera, Jenny Jamora, and Hannah Ledesma among others.

The film is competing against four films in the Best Drama category.

The Santorini Film Festival, organized by HF Productions, an international production company run by a collective of independent filmmakers, producers, and marketing professionals.

It is “the first international independent film festival on the island film festival on the island is open to any filmmaker, regardless of budget, style or genre, who is looking for a platform to share their work with an audience eager to see great films,” the film festival said on its website.
