Biñan records 527 COVID-19 cases, almost a quarter of Laguna's total; areas in 5 barangays under critical zone
BIÑAN CITY, Laguna - The city government named districts in five barangays as critical zone areas starting Monday (July 27) to help curb the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
At 12 a.m., the entire barangays of Malaban and Langkiwa were placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ). As of July 26, Malaban has 63 COVID-19 cases and 18 suspected cases. Langkiwa, on the other hand, has recorded 31 confirmed cases and currently has 60 suspected cases.
Ten areas in Barangay San Antonio were also named as critical zones: Tulay Bato, St. Francis X, Old National Highway, Golden Meadows Subdivision, Garcia Subdivision, St. Francis Homes VII, Cabulusan, Umboy, St. Rose Village III, and
Faraon Subdivision. San Antonio has recorded 92 COVID-19 patients and 37 suspected cases.
Also placed under critical zone were Amorlon Subdivision in Barangay Canlalay, and Juana 6 and Newton Heights in Barangay San Francisco.
Strict Home quarantine is implemented in areas under critical zones. Movement of all residents is limited to accessing essential goods and services and for work in permitted offices or establishments.
The period of implementation of critical zones will depend on assessments per week.
As of July 26, Biñan has recorded 527 confirmed cases of COVID-19. This is almost a quarter of Laguna's 2,262 cases, as recorded by the Provincial Government. Out of Biñan's 527 cases, 260 are active, 245 have recovered and 22 died.
