5-day-old infant among confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Davao region
DAVAO CITY - A five-day-old boy from Davao del Sur province was among the latest cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Davao region recorded on Saturday, July 25.
Based on the profiles released by the Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday, the infant from Upper Malinao in Padada town was among the 27 individuals, who were reported as positive for COVID-19 as of 5 p.m., July 25.
The infant was reported to have the manifested the onset of symptoms on July 20.
Four more children were also among those found to be positive on Saturday.
Among them was a one-year-old girl from R. Castillo, Agdao, Davao City, who was asymptomatic; an 11-year-old boy from Maa, Davao City, who felt the onset of symptoms on July 22; two boys aged 14 and 15 from Poblacion, Malita, Davao Occidental, who were also asymptomatic.
Meanwhile, the DOH Davao Center for Health Development reported 23 new cases of COVID-19 as of 5 p.m. on Sunday, bringing the total number of recorded COVID-19 confirmed cases to 1,156.
The DOH said, of these numbers, 463 were active cases.
The DOH added that 20 of the new cases were from Davao City, and one each from Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao del Norte.
The new cases included a locally stranded individual (LSI), five returning overseas Filipinos, and 13 local cases. The remaining four cases were still under further verification, the DOH added.
The regional health department also recorded 26 recoveries on Sunday. Among these, 25 were from Davao City, and one was from Davao de Oro.
The total number of recoveries in the region is now at 648, while the fatalities were at 45.
