Abalos Jr. disclosed this in his Facebook page, days after his parents have contracted the disease.

“Results came out yesterday. I was infected. I am COVID positive,” said Abalos Jr.

“I'm 100 percent fit and healthy. My X-ray results show that my lungs are both very clear. COVID only affected me minimally, the worse effect is one episode of diarrhea,” he added.

In his Facebook page, Abalos Jr. shared photos of him with his parents in their hospital room.

Abalos Jr. first became mayor of Mandaluyong City in 1998 to 2004 after succeeding his father, Benjamin Abalos Sr.

Benhur again served as mayor for the second time from 2007 to 2016.

Last July 17, Abalos Sr. and his wife, Corazon, tested positive for COVID-19. They are currently undergoing treatment.

On July 23, Mandaluyong City Councilor Charisse Marie Abalos-Vargas announced that she contracted the disease.

The city councilor is the daughter of Abalos Jr. and Mandaluyong Mayor Carmelita Abalos.
