Despite the massive quarantine restrictions due to the pandemic, two China-funded bridges that are currently under construction are expected to be completed "right on schedule," Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar said.

The Estrella-Panteleon Bridge, which connects Makati City and Mandaluyong City, is expected to be completed by December 2020, while the completion of the Binondo-Intramuros Bridge in Manila is set for March 2021.
According to Undersecretary Emil Sadain, the Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge Project is now 56 percent complete, while the Binondo-Intramuros Bridge Project is now 36 percent complete.
He added the pouring of foundation for the abutment of the Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge is ongoing, while piling of works for the foundation of Binondo-Intramuros Bridge is underway.
By September, a steel bridging frame will be installed at the Binondo-Intramuros Bridge.
“Although we have other urgent projects during this time of pandemic, we want to ensure everyone that these bridge projects are being rushed for completion to serve the public,” Sadain vowed.
Once completed, the two bridges will augment the 30 bridges now existing across the Pasig River, the Marikina River and the Manggahan Floodway, easing traffic along Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue and other major roads in Metro Manila.
