Apparently disgusted over corruption at the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), three officials of the government-controlled corporation tendered their respective resignation, a highly placed source revealed late Thursday night.
The resignation came after an online meeting wherein alleged corruption in the government agency was discovered, triggering a heated argument among officials of the state health insurer.
According to the source, one of the officials who resigned was an anti-fraud officer who had advocated a campaign against corruption at PhilHealth.
As of this writing, PhilHealth has yet to respond to inquiries about the resignations and the corruption issues surrounding the matter.
Last year, the state health insurer was in the limelight after it got involved in the issue of fraudulent activities, particularly the “ghost dialysis” allegations.
