Suspect in killing of hangar administrator in Pasay City arrested in Bulacan

A 28-year-old gym instructor pinpointed to be the suspect in the killing of an aviation employee on Sunday evening (July 12) was arrested by joint forces of Pasay City police operatives, PR03 Highway Patrol Group, and Bulacan police in Barangay Longos, City of Malolos, Wednesday evening (July 22).

Bulacan police director Col. Lawrence B. Cajipe identified the arrested suspect as Michael Jeck Pon-an, 28, single, of Dream Crest Homes, Brgy. Longos, City of Malolos.

Initial investigation showed that the victim Aldrin Reyes, 30, single, hangar administrator of Challenger Aero Air Corporation, was murdered inside his apartment in Pasay City between 7:13 p.m. on July 12 to 5:30 a.m. on July 13. 

Reyes' dead body was discovered by his brother on July 14, and the victim’s Honda City car was missing.

Pon-an was found to be the last person with the victim before the killing was discovered.

On Wednesday afternoon, while Pasay City police operatives conducted a follow-up investigation together with the combined elements of Highway Patrol Group PRO3 and Malolos city police, suspect Pon-an and his sister, Michelle Angela Pon-an, were spotted inside the victim’s car along MacArthur Highway in Malolos and were flagged down by the law enforcers.

But instead of slowing down, the suspect, who was driving the car, deliberately ran into two operatives of the Pasay City Police Station.

Alert Malolos policemen gave chase and cornered the fleeing suspects at Dream Crest Homes in Malolos, where they were arrested.

Recovered along with Reyes' vehicle were the vehicle's OR/CR,  five ball caps, four pairs of rubber shoes, two pairs of sandals, one pair of leather boots, four  pairs of sunglasses, and a mobile phone. 

The suspect is now facing charges for direct assault, murder, carnapping, and theft. Police are still determining the motive for the killing.
