Ice hockey was formally accepted into the Philippine Olympic Committee family Monday, according to president Bambol Tolentino.

Two other low-key sports – polo and pole and aerial (fitness exercise) – were likewise given recognition by the POC, which met for the first time during the coronavirus era but wound up adjourning the board meeting that was done online.

“Kulang na sa oras,” said Tolentino.

Tolentino said they will resume discussions Friday in the hopes of resolving issues relative to the mechanics of the November 2020 POC elections.

With ice hockey now a voting member, the number of NSAs has reached 48.

Tolentino, also head of Philcycling, took over from boxing chief Ricky Vargas last year after a special election ordered by the court.

“We are looking at coming to an agreement when we get together again this Friday,” said the Tagaytay congressman.
