The Archdiocese of Davao has expressed its gratitude to the faithful who have been praying for the recovery of Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles.

Monsignor Paul Cuison, vicar general of the archdiocese said, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines president continues to get better after he suffered a stroke on May 23. He was released from the hospital last July 6.
Kalookan Bishop Pablo Virgilio David has been named as acting CBCP president for the meantime.
In an official statement released by the archdiocese, Msgr. Cuison said, Valles was hospitalized longer than expected after he developed hospital -acquired pneumonia.
“As a close aide to the archbishop, I am happy to let you know that he is getting back to normal self again in an almost miraculous way, with only a slight problem of his physical movement which is also showing great improvement,” Cuison said.
He added that Valles was able to celebrate a private mass on July 10 to mark his 69th birthday.
“I am optimistic that it would just be a matter of days and he will be back to celebrate public masses for the faithful,” said Msgr. Cuison.
