CEU Educates, Transforms Lives

Driven to empower and inspire the youth, Centro Escolar University carries on its mission of building a brighter future for its students by maintaining quality education anchored on the university maxim of Ciencia Y Virtud—Science and Virtue.

CEU’s relentless commitment to providing excellent education and services to its stakeholders resulted in numerous institutional awards. The university was granted Autonomous Status by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for all campuses in Manila, Makati, and Malolos. The Dentistry, Pharmacy, Biology, Business Administration, International Hospitality Management, International Tourism and Travel Management, Nursing, Nutrition and Dietetics, Optometry, and Psychology programs are all certified by the ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA).

A good number of the programs are accredited with the Highest Level of Accreditation, Level IV, by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA) as certified by the Federation of Accrediting Agencies of the Philippines (FAAP). Those include Biology, Psychology, Pharmacy, Business Administration, Dentistry, Optometry, Nutrition and Dietetics, Liberal Arts (Communication and Media and Political Science), Education, and Medical Technology. Other certifications include CHED Center of Excellence in Teacher Education and CHED Center of Development for Optometry Education and Business Education.

Aside from the cited recognitions, CEU graduates are well-placed in their respective fields of expertise. They can speak well of how capable the university is as a center for learning and transforming lives. Most of them are leaders and influencers in their organizations and industries. They are equipped with knowledge and skills, having been nurtured holistically with values by the university’s community.

“CEU made me accomplish tasks I thought I was not ready to fulfill, but it was the push that I badly needed then. It made me realize how capable I was to become someone I only dreamed of before. Certainly, I had doubts for there were risks in taking the road less traveled, but I remained steadfast and focused on my vision of a better world”, said Don Guerrero, CEU Social Work alumnus and Senior Private Sector Engagement Assistant at United Nations International Organization for Migration.

For Janzen Ramirez, a Computer Engineering program alumnus, and Data Management Manager at Bnext Technologies, Inc., it is important to have a good education because it opens doors to a better life. He strongly believes that the kind of education that CEU provides is a key to self-empowerment and self-discovery, making it possible to contribute to building a better society and a better Philippines.

From being a school for kindergarten, elementary, general secondary, music, and home arts courses, CEU has grown into an institution that offers over 50 programs for both science and non-science. The campus also houses state-of-the-art facilities enhanced with modern laboratory equipment to support advanced learning experience.

The university continues to upgrade its learning environment and adapts to the current trends and developments in the school industry. With the present global health crisis, the method of instruction transitioned into a flexible mode through largely asynchronous online teaching and learning with provision for on-campus laboratory/clinical classes, if circumstances will allow. Moreover, online programs and activities will be conducted to boost the wellbeing and success of students in their online work and interaction and to constantly keep the members of the university community connected.

The vision of the university’s founders Doña Librada Avelino and Doña Carmen De Luna has continually shaped the lives of the Filipino youth as excellent professionals making a difference.  This is so even in these challenging times with continuing education and engagement in Centro Escolar University.
