DOH endorses to NBI lawyer's complaint against Pimentel for quarantine breach

The Department of Health (DOH) has endorsed to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) the quarantine breach complaint lawyer Rico Quicho filed against Senator Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire confirmed this on Friday, noting the move is part of a "regular process."

"Kasi ang DOH naman usually, administrative dito sa amin. But with regards to this, meron ibang process na kailangan (Here in the DOH, usually it's administrative. But with regards to there is another process needed) so we have submitted it to proper authorities," she explained.

Quicho commended the move of the Health department in a Facebook post.

He also maintained he will not stop until Pimentel, who reportedly submitted Thursday a counter-affidavit in response to the complaint before the Department of Justice (DOJ),  gets a conviction.

Quicho filed a complaint against Pimentel for alleged violation of Republic Act. No. 11332 or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act after the lawmaker was reported to have accompanied his wife to a hospital despite being designated a "person under investigation" for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) last March.
