After a little over four years of being married, estranged Korean celebrity couple Ku Hye-sun, 35, and Ahn Jae-hyun, 33, are now officially divorced.
The agreement came out July 15 when the Seoul Family Court held a mediation hearing about the divorce. The two stars were not present during the hearing.
The divorce of the couple came 10 months after Ahn Jae-hyun filed for divorce against Ku Hye-sun on Sept. 9, 2019. They fell in love while filming “Blood” and got married on May 21, 2016.
In a statement issued after the decision came out, the couple’s legal representatives said, “Ahn Jae-hyun and Ku Hye-sun came to an agreement to settle for divorce through mediation on July 15, 2020,” according to SBS News.
“The two will each walk on their own paths, and they will wish the best for each other's future. We express apologies for causing trouble to the public with their personal issues until now,” the statement added.
In August last year, an irate Ku Hye-sun used her Instagram account to reveal that Ahn Jae-hyun wanted to divorce her.
"My husband has changed and wants to divorce but I want to protect this family. He said that he would announce the divorce news next week and I'd like to inform everyone that none of it is true,” she said, MyDaily reported.
Ku Hye-sun rose to fame by playing Geum Jan-di in the 2009 hit drama series “Boys Over Flowers.” Her other acting credits are “Blood” and “Strongest Chil-woo” while Ahn Jae-hyun’s drama projects include “My Love from Another Star” and “The Beauty Inside.”
