An officer from the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) was found dead on Thursday morning at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City.
BuCor Spokesperson Gabriel Chaclag identified the officer as Corrections Officer 1 (CO1) Edmund Molina, 29, a resident of Brgy. Katuparan, Taguig City.
He said that Molina's body was discovered at around 5 in the morning by the roving supervisor at the Post Tower 4, East Perimeter Wall of the Medium Security Compound, in NBP with a gunshot wound in the right temple.
His body was slouched on his reclining folded chair when he was noticed by the roving shift supervisor who immediately sought assistance from other duty personnel.
Police investigators and members of the Southern Police District Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) team processed the scene of the incident along with other investigators.
The body will be autopsied as members of the BuCor NBP Investigation Section will also conduct a parallel internal investigation. The relatives of the officer were already informed of the incident and were assisted by BuCor administration staff.
