The Medical City (TMC) in Pasig said beds allocated for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients have reached full capacity.
In a statement, TMC appealed to COVID-19 patients, particularly those who are critically ill, to consider going to other healthcare institutions for treatment.
"We are fully aware that this is a looming problem, but we cannot go beyond our capacity to take care of COVID-19 patients without posing serious risk to everyone -- both the patients (COVID and non-COVID) and our hospital staff," the institution said.
"We also do not wish to compromise service to our general patients, who have no less serious medical needs and now comprise majority of our case load," it added.
TMC assured that it is in close coordination with the local government of Pasig for the management of COVID-19 patients on its existing public-private partnership designating Pasig City Children's Hospital (PCCH) as a COVID center for "moderate cases."
The hospital management likewise assured that the quality of care "remains uncompromised."
"We empathize with the COVID patients but we are just as committed to provide quality services and secure the facilities strictly allocated for non-COVID-19 cases, which remain open. Their health needs are just as urgent and important," it noted.
TMC also advised the public to practice heightened precaution to help avoid further transmission of COVID-19 and to seek help early.
Several private hospitals on Monday declared full capacity and could no longer admit COVID-19 patients.
Department of Health (DOH) Undersecretary Leopoldo Vega earlier said that the critical care capacity for ICU beds in the country has reached the "danger zone," as the number of persons infected with the disease continue to rise.
