Base preparation of roads conducted at Baseco resettlement area
The Manila city government on Tuesday (July 14) conducted the base preparation of roads at the Baseco Compound in Port Area, Manila, where around 650 informal settler families will be resettled.

Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso said members of the Department of Engineering did the base preparation of roads.
"Ito na po ang pangarap ko para sa inyo, mga kababayan - ang mabigyan kayo ng pabahay at lupain (This is my dream for you, my fellow Manileños—for you to be given your own house and lot)," he wrote in a Facebook post.Â
"Huwag po kayong mag-alala, lahat po ng 650 families po na iyon ay mabibigyan. Walang maiiwan (Do not worry, all of the 650 families will be provided for. No one will be left behind)," he added.
The Baseco resettlement area will be a subdivision-type housing project with seven blocks.
The area was formerly a residential area that was razed by a fire that reached Task Force Bravo in February 2020. The blaze left one man dead and 600 families homeless.
The city government also recently broke ground for Tondominiums 1 and 2, and is set to break ground for Binondominium, two public housing projects that are part of Domagoso's "Land for the Landless" project and "Build Build Manila" program.
The Manila mayor earlier said that they have initially identified 10 additional sites for in-city vertical housing projects for informal settlers and Manila City Hall employees.
