P5.4 M worth of shabu seized, 3 arrested in Las Pinas

Joint elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday seized P5.4 million worth of shabu and arrested three suspects during a buy-bust operation in Las Pinas City.

PDEA spokesperson Derrick Carreon in a statement released last night identified the suspects as Daisy Usman, Yasmin Balading, and Joselito Castillo.

The suspects were nabbed at around 4:25 p.m. at the west side parking lot of a mall in Barangay Almanza 1.

Aside from the 800 grams of shabu, the anti-narcotics operatives confiscated one unit of cherry mobile phone and one gray Toyota Vios car.

Carreon noted that the operation was carried out by the joint teams of PDEA Bulacan, PDEA Laguna, PDEA NCR and Police Station 4 of the Southern Police District (SPD).

Earlier on the same day, high value target (HVT) Tomas dela Cruz Jr. was nabbed as a search warrant was served at his residence in Buguey, Cagayan Valley at around 6:00 a.m.

The combined forces of PDEA and the local police seized six pieces of small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing .18 gram of shabu, one piece live ammunition for M16 rifle, and six pieces live ammo for Cal .38.

Dela Cruz is now facing charges for violations of Republic Act 9165 and Republic Act 10591.
