New routes for VP shuttle service in Cebu City

Vice President Leni Robredo said Saturday that starting this week, shuttle service being offered by her office and its private partners for health workers will open new routes in Cebu City.

Her announcement came a week after the pilot run of the shuttle service on the initial three routes from Bulacao to Fuente Osmeña Circle, Fuente Osmeña Circle to Mandaue City, Cebu North General Hospital to Fuente Osmeña Circle, and vice versa.

Robredo said they will expand the current routes taking into consideration the requests and suggestions her office has received from Cebu health workers.

In these three routes, the buses make two trips in the morning and afternoon. Passengers must present a valid ID from a hospital to avail themselves of the free ride.

“Hopefully, we will also be able to open new dormitories in addition to our four existing ones,” she wrote in a Facebook post.

The Office of the Vice President (OVP) has taken its coronavirus response operations in Cebu City to assist health workers who tirelessly work to fight the pandemic.

Last Thursday, Robredo’s office opened the fourth dormitory for frontliners in the Fuente Osmeña area. The other existing dorms are located in the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, and Talisay.

The OVP also launched a free ferry service for frontliners in Cebu City, which is under the strictest lockdown in the country.
