The additional dormitories will be constructed within the compounds of Lung Center of the Philippines in Quezon City and Jose Lingad Memorial Hospital in Pampanga.

These new projects will add to the two more ongoing and four completed quarters at the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City.

The dormitories are made of modular components fabricated to assemble rooms with the middle space intended for the living room. Common dining and a separate area for laundry and kitchen with available appliances are also set up within the dormitories.

Villar also said that the department is looking to build quarantine facilities in Cavite, Batangas, and Quezon in the Southern Tagalog region; Cebu City, Mandaue City, and Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu; Tacloban City, Ormoc City, Maasin City, Biliran, Catbalogan, Catarman, and Palo in Eastern Visayas.

“We will be doing our best to make sure that those who are sick have access to healthcare facilities. Construction of isolation or quarantine facilities is being considered in these areas.”

A total of 11 public and private structures in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Laguna, and Davao City were converted into mega community quarantine facilities with total bed capacity of 2,584.

Thirty units of container vans were repurposed into mobile rooms which can be used as additional COVID-19 isolation health facilities.
