OVP provides free ferry service for Cebu frontliners

The Office of the Vice President (OVP) and its private partners on Thursday, July 9, started the operations of its free ferry service for frontliners in Cebu.

Vice President Leni Robredo said the first day of the ferry service from Olango Island to mainland Lapu-Lapu City, and vice versa was just a dry run.

The ferry service has two trips in the morning and afternoon, but the schedule and pick-up points have been adjusted upon the request of health workers and other frontliners.

”Starting tomorrow, July 10, the free ferry service will start at an earlier time, at Angasil Port in Brgy. Mactan,” Robredo wrote in a Facebook post.

This is the latest initiative of Robredo’s office in addition to the three dormitories and shuttle service it has provided for Cebu frontliners.

The vice president said her office’s COVID-19 response in Cebu City was based on the assistance drive it has implemented in Metro Manila since the start of the community quarantine in March.

“Gumagalaw kami at saka nagde-desisyon base sa experience namin dito sa Metro Manila noong ginawa din namin iyong mga intervention. (We are moving and deciding based on our experience here in Metro Manila when we made the intervention),” she said in a radio interview.
