Suspect in Jang Lucero murder case arrested

Police have arrested one of several suspects in the brutal slaying of Jang Lucero in Calamba City last month that went viral on social media.

Brig. Gen. Vicente Danao, director of the CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) regional police said the suspect, Ann Sheila Montes Belarmino, was identified through footage from a Closed Circuit Television (CCTV).

"She was arrested by the Calamba Police on July 3 using the arrest warrant issued against her and her companions for the death of Lucero," said Danao.

Police announced Belarmino's arrest four days after it was made.

They are still trying to locate five other suspects.

Lucero, 34, who reportedly lost her original job due to the ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, was moonlighting as a rent-a-car driver at the time of her death.

Her cadaver was discovered June 28 inside her own car which was parked at Bucal Bypass Road in Barangay Maunong in Calamba City.

She sustained 52 stab wounds.
Police believe her last client was responsible for the attack.

They are yet to disclose the motive behind the slaying.

Danao assured the family of the victim that manhunt operation will be intensified for the arrest of the other suspects.

“We will make sure the other suspects in the killing of Jang Lucero will fall in the hands of the authorities. We will maximize our efforts so that the remaining suspects will be put behind bars and that justice will be served,” said Danao.
