Two parcels from America “intentionally misdeclared” as puzzles and game boards were found to contain methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” worth P600,000 at a warehouse in Pasay City.

Sachets of shabu concealed in puzzles were discovered inside two parcels at the FedEx Warehouse in Pasay City before it could be delivered to Albay and Cabanatuan City, the Bureau of Customs said.
According to the Port of NAIA, the packages were intentionally misdeclared as “gift puzzle game board” and “puzzle game made of cardboard as a gift.”
The illegal drugs were found during a physical examination. The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) later conducted field tests, confirming that the seized substances were indeed shabu.
In addition, two other misdeclared bottles of Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK), a controlled chemical which identified by the PDEA as essential ingredients in the production of shabu, were also seized for lack of import permit.
The controlled precursors were illegally imported from Taiwan, the Customs bureau said.
The bureau immediately turned over the seized illegal drugs and controlled precursors to the PDEA for case profiling, further investigation, and possible filing of criminal cases against the importers and their cohorts for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (RA No. 9165) in relation to the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (RA No. 10863).
