'Our hospitals remain fully equipped to handle any medical concern' – St. Luke's
St. Luke's Medical Center (SLMC) belied circulating news that its hospitals, both in Global City and in Quezon City, have reached full capacity.
In a statement released by SLMC on Monday (July 6), it said both of its hospitals still have the capacity to handle both COVID-19-related and non-COVID-19-related cases.
The medical facility added that as of July 6, it still has 70 percent admission based on the designated number of beds for COVID-19 patients.
"In spite of the number of positive cases continuing to rise, our hospitals remain fully equipped in handling any medical concern," it assured.
"We urge the public to verify the information first before sharing in order to prevent the spread of false information or fake news, especially during this pandemic," SLMC added.
On Monday, Department of Health (DOH) Undersecretary Maria Rosaria Vergeire said that state hospitals in Metro Manila are not yet overwhelmed with COVID-19 cases and there are still rooms available if cases continue to rise.
"There's still room in every hospital to expand more. That is what we are doing in our government hospitals," Vergeire added.
