Rizal Provincial Hospital shuts ER after 19 employees get exposed to COVID-19 patient


The Rizal Provincial Hospital Annex has closed its emergency room for COVID-19 cases after 19 medical and non-medical personnel were exposed to an infected patient.

Antipolo Mayor Andrea Ynares assured on Sunday that the emergency room has been decontaminated and disinfected.

Ynares said they decided to extend the temporary closure after their contact tracing team discovered that 19 of the hospital's staff were exposed to a COVID-19 positive patient.

"Sila po ay nakunan na ng swab samples at kasalukuyang naka-quarantine habang hinihintay ang resulta ng COVID-19 RT-PCR test (Their swab samples have already been collected and they are currently under quarantine while waiting for their COVID-19 RT-PCR test results)," Ynares assured on Sunday.

"Ibabalik po natin ang serbisyo sa nasabing section ng ospital sa lalong madaling panahon (The closed hospital section will resume operations soon)," she added.

Meanwhile, the Out Patient Department (OPD) of the city's Health Office will be likewise be closed for decontamination and disinfection after three medical staff tested positive for COVID-19.

Ynares said the medical staff are now under mandatory quarantine and their close contacts have also been tracked by the city's contact tracing team.

On Sunday, a staff from the city's Treasury tested positive for COVID-19. The department is currently being disinfected but will remain open.

"Mananatili pong bukas at patuloy ang pagbibigay serbisyo ng treasury department at ng buong City Hall sa ating mga kababayan (The treasury department and the entire City Hall will remain open to serve our constituents)," Ynares said.
